Graves re-elected to 6th District US House seat

Graves re-elected to 6th District US House seat

The final Southern Media and Opinion Research poll found State Treasurer Kennedy at 22 percent, followed by State Public Service Commissioner and Democrat Foster Campbell with 16 percent.

In addition to casting ballots for president, Louisiana voters Tuesday whittled the list of U.S. Senate candidates to two, re-elected four incumbent congressmen, sent two U.S. House races to runoffs and decided the fate of six constitutional amendments.

Candidates who didn't reach the runoff included: Republican U.S. Rep. Charles Boustany, Democratic lawyer Caroline Fayard and Republican U.S. Rep. John Fleming.

White supremacist David Duke ran for the seat as a Republican, but lost his attempt to return to elected office.

Though all candidates ran on the ballot together regardless of party, the Republican Kennedy and the Democrat Campbell faced nearly mini-primaries with opponents in their own parties ahead of Tuesday's election to reach the runoff.

In the 3rd congressional district - an open seat due to Charles Boustany running for senate - two Republicans will be in the showdown: Scott Angelle and Clay Higgins. Richmond's main challenger was Baton Rouge mayor Kip Holden, a Democrat. Corporations in exchange would have been taxed at a flat rate of 6.5 percent, rather than varying rates from 4 percent to 8 percent, starting in 2017.

The race is nearly certain to be decided in a December 10 runoff.

Mourinho rips 'sleeping' United after Turkish torture
After their second goal we had a reaction probably we could have got a different result but I felt we didn't deserve more ". Hope Pogba's injury is not too serious. but if he's out for Sunday then either Schweini or Carrick will have to step in.

"Mr. Kennedy, if you were my chief financial officer, you'd be fired a long time ago", Fleming said in the most recent debate.

The top five candidates spent part of their weekend in Baton Rouge, tailgating at the sold-out college football game between LSU and Alabama.

Voters have no shortage of choices as they cast ballots in Louisiana's tightly-contested U.S. Senate race.

Republican state Treasurer John Kennedy has consistently been the front-runner in the Senate race for the past year, but polls have shown four challengers all within striking distance. In the U.S. House races, four incumbents are running for re-election and seem on track to easy victories.

Boustany and Campbell battled for much of the night, though Campbell's large turnouts in Orleans, Jefferson, East Baton Rouge and Caddo Parishes - numerous same parishes Kennedy excelled in - helped him edge out the sitting Congressman.

As the lone Democrat, Shreveport lawyer Marshall Jones is expected to have a runoff spot. Another portion of oil and gas money will pay down state retirement debt.
