Judge allows travellers who landed with visas to stay in country

The federal judge who was first to rule against President Donald Trump's ban on immigrants from seven majority-Muslim countries is a MI native who was born in Royal Oak and got her bachelor's degree from the University of MI.

Confusion abounded at airports as immigration and customs officials struggled to interpret the new rules, with some legal residents who were in the air when the order was issued detained at airports upon arrival. From 2009 to 2015, she served as a judge of the New York Court of Claims.

He was granted permission to relocate to the US, but was detained along with another traveler from Iraq after arriving at John F. Kennedy Airport Friday night.

President Donald Trump signs an executive order imposing travel restrictions into the USA on immigrants and refugees at the Pentagon on Friday. The groups also brought an emergency request "to prevent the imminent repatriation of dozens and dozens of refugees, visa-holders, and other individuals from nations subject to the January 27 executive order". And refugees on flights when the order was signed Friday found themselves detained upon arrival.

Manchester City defender ecstatic with return to action
Relegation-threatened Palace, finalists last season, have only the Premier League to concentrate on after their elimination. But that's just not an option. "Ninety minutes to play for this club that means much to me.

"Today, we fought to protect the right of our two clients and all similarly held in airports across the country, and we fought to defend our Constitution and treasured American values of equality and freedom". Gee's order is notable, though, in that it further commands US officials to return someone who already had been removed. "Future visas might not be issued under the Executive Order", Professor Lenni Benson, an immigration expert at New York Law School said.

Hundreds of people are now detained at several airports across the country and the stay order will prevent their deportation.

Dutch airline KLM says it has had to turn away seven would-be passengers because they would no longer have been accepted into the United States under President Donald Trump's ban on refugees.

Hameed Khalid Darweesh, an Iraqi who was detained overnight, worked as an interpreter for the U.S. Army when it invaded Iraq in 2003.
