DNI head claims Trump asked him to intervene in FBI's Russian Federation probe

During Wednesday morning's Senate Intelligence Committee hearing, Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, NSA Director Adm. Mike Rogers, and acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe repeatedly declined to directly answer whether Trump asked them to publicly downplay the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Russian Federation probe, or to otherwise interfere with the investigation, as numerous reports claim.

Two of the nation's top intelligence officials said in a hearing Wednesday they would not discuss specifics of private conversations with President Trump, declining to say whether they had been asked to push back against an Federal Bureau of Investigation probe into possible coordination between his campaign and the Russian government.

Comey's exit came amid the FBI's probe of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential race, including possible collusion between Russia and Trump's election campaign.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, the second-ranking official at the Department of Justice who signed a letter recommending Comey's dismissal, also testified on Wednesday, as did acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe, who took over after Comey was sacked.

But Rogers said he had never been directed to do anything illegal, immoral or inappropriate during his time as NSA director while Coats said he had never felt pressured to intervene with shaping intelligence.

The verbal sparring became so intense that Committee Chairman Richard Burr, a North Carolina Republican, intervened at one point during a sharp exchange between California Democrat Kamala Harris and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. So, Heinrich stated the obvious - that Coats' "unwillingness to answer a very basic question speaks volumes".

In it, Comey details a series of interactions with Trump that made him uneasy and appear to show the president disregarding the FBI's traditional independence from the White House.

UNMASKED: Third London Bridge terrorist named as Moroccan-Italian
British police on Tuesday named the third London Bridge attacker as an Italian national of Moroccan descent, and Itali. The threat level remains at moderate but frontline Gardaí have warned they've had no counter-terrorism training.

There were two logical possibilities, the official said: first, that the media reports are true and Trump did say something that could be construed as inappropriate.

A Senate Intelligence Committee hearing on June 7, 2017.

"Are you prepared to say that you've never been asked to interfere in an investigation at the FBI?"

On Thursday, James Comey shall testify in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Mark R. Warner, D-Va., the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, indicated Wednesday that he plans to question a witness to Coats's conversation with the president.

By the end of it, King said they would have to provide a legal answer why they couldn't answer the questions.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said it's standard practice for executive branch officials, such as the ones who testified, to decline to discuss conversations with the president. Rogers said he hoped he would be able to answer the senators' questions during a classified briefing in the future.

King noted that none of the men were answering any of the questions the American public has, but none of the men gave a shit because they all wanted off the hot seat.
