'Marked Man' Attorney General Jeff Sessions Abruptly Cancels Public Testimony

'Marked Man' Attorney General Jeff Sessions Abruptly Cancels Public Testimony

US Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a letter on Saturday thathe will appear before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday to address matters former FBI Director James Comey brought up this week in testimony to the same panel.

Sessions said in a letter Saturday that he would appear before the committee to address matters Comey raised last week in testimony to the same panel.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions was in for sharp questioning by senators on the Senate Intelligence committee Tuesday.

U.S. Atty. Gen. Jeff Sessions said he wants to address questions related to his dealings with Russian Federation.

Trump's aides have dodged questions about whether conversations relevant to the Russian Federation investigation have been recorded, and so has the president.

Sen. Ron Wyden, an Oregon Democrat on the committee, who pressed Comey last week on why Sessions' was involved in his firing if he had recused himself, argued that Sessions had no reason to seek a classified briefing.

"There's a real question of the propriety of the attorney general participating in that in any way, shape or form", Reed said on "Fox News Sunday".

The next day, Mr Comey said, he implored Mr Sessions never to leave him alone again with the President, but Mr Sessions did not reply.

Longtime Republican operative Roger Stone, a Trump campaign adviser who is negotiating the terms of his own testimony before the House committee that grilled Comey, said Sessions will be advantaged by the fact that any concrete evidence of illegality has proved elusive.

Crowds rally at March for Truth in DC and dozens of cities
Attendees at the pro-Trump rally expressed support for the president's decision to withdraw the USA from the Paris Climate Accord. Thousands more protested in more than 100 cities across the country, including New York, Pittsburgh and Chicago.

Schumer invited Trump to testify under oath before the Senate and he urged Trump to produce any tapes of his conversations with Comey.

He was supposed to testify before the House and Senate appropriations committees about next year's budget for the Department of Justice.

"Our judgment, as I recall, was that he was very close [to the campaign] and inevitably going to recuse himself", Comey said during his testimony.

Trump alluded to tapes in a May tweet and he said recently he will reveal soon whether any tapes exist.

Preet Bharara (buh-RAH'-ruh) tells ABC's "This Week" that he thinks Trump was trying to "cultivate some kind of relationship" with him. "Totally illegal? Very 'cowardly!'" Trump tweeted on Sunday.

He said Trump reached out to him again after the inauguration but he refused to call back, shortly before he was sacked. While the Senate Intelligence Committee has received most of the publicity of late on the Russian Federation probe, the House Intelligence Committee has also been making noise, sending out subpoenas to some, and letters asking for cooperation to others.

House Russia investigators, led by Texas Republican Rep. Michael Conaway and California Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff, sent a formal request to the White House for any records of Trump's private meetings with Comey. Sessions is already in hot water for failing to disclose during his confirmation hearing that he had meetings with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak throughout the 2016 campaign.

President Donald Trump is predicting that former FBI Director James Comey's "leaks will be far more prevalent than anyone ever thought possible".
