President Trump enjoins Kuwait, Arab nations to fight their shared enemies

President Trump enjoins Kuwait, Arab nations to fight their shared enemies

"A great part of them will be resolved".

The visit by Kuwait's Emir Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad to Washington is "historic both in the timing and the level of the accompanying delegation" and comes at a "very delicate time due to the challenges and crises in the Arab region", the Kuwaiti ambassador to the U.S. has said.

The Saudi-led Arab countries, also close USA allies, have presented Qatar with a list of 13 demands to restore relations, which the Qataris have so far rejected. He did not identify those countries, but in June he had made reference to Saudi and other Arab complaints about Qatar.

Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held a telephone conversation yesterday evening with President Donald Trump of the friendly United States of America.

Donald Trump calls for 'united GCC', offers to mediate

Trump's comments come months after an inflammatory speech in Saudi Arabia, his accusations that Qatar funds terrorism, and after apparently taking credit for encouraging the blockade in a series of Twitter posts. Although Qatar has rejected some of them out of hand, Sheikh Sabah said he believed negotiations were possible. "The hope has not ended yet".

Trump says all the countries involved are "essential partners" in the fight against Islamic State group. "Dialogue on the implementation of the demands should not be preceded by any conditions", they said in the joint statement, while voicing "regret" about the Kuwaiti ruler's statement "on the success of mediation in stopping military intervention".

"The press has been incredible", Trump reportedly told House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi during a phone call on Thursday morning. "I think we have a chance of doing it". "I think the Palestinians would like to see it happen, I think the Israelis would like to see it happen".

The ambassador said that the talks between the two leaders "would build on the outcome of their talks on the sidelines of the Gulf-American Summit in Riyadh in May".
