Macklemore Cancels Aus Press Conference Ahead Of NRL Grand Final

Macklemore Cancels Aus Press Conference Ahead Of NRL Grand Final

During Australia's postal survey on marriage equality, Macklemore is spreading a message of love - and reaching number 1 on the charts.

Macklemore is set to perform his gay rights anthem "Same Love" at the National Rugby League grand final in Australia this Sunday, but some conservative Australians are trying to prevent that from happening.

"I think sporting events and work places are totally the wrong places for these political messages, people go to the AFL and NRL finals to see a game of football: they don't want to be sold political messages".

Speaking to Channel Nine ahead of tomorrow's match, Macklemore said he would help fund the Yes campaign.

It's understood the funding arrangement is yet to be formally finalised.

From now until November 7, every Australian who is eligible to vote has been invited to take part in a mail-in vote to measure what the public opinion on gay marriage is.

"Anytime that you announce a performer, it's going to be in front of 80,000 people, there is going to be some people that are like "oh why don't we have this person", that just comes with the territory", he said.

THANKS to Tony Abbott, the NRL grand final will have an enormous global audience.

Russia's Putin says discussed Iraqi Kurds' vote with Erdogan
They both stressed the importance of preserving the territorial integrity of both Iraq and Syria , the sources said. The two leaders are expected to discuss the timing of troop deployment in the Syrian province.

Australians were becoming increasingly exhausted of the negativity from the "no" campaign, Mr Greenwich added.

"I look forward to it".

American rapper, Macklemore, has pledged to donate the Australian proceeds from his track, Same Love, to the marriage equality campaign. I think there is a petition to ban me from playing it.

"Footy fans shouldn't be subjected to a politicized grand final".

Mr Abbott's latest intervention was echoed by North Queensland MP Bob Katter, who accused the NRL of using the decider to "promote their sexual proclivities". "I thought Mr Abbott believed in freedom of speech", Brandis told the ABC.

"I am into free speech... presumably two songs should be played, one for gay marriage and one against gay marriage", Mr Dutton told The Australian newspaper.

Meanwhile, Macklemore is aware of the furore, telling Los Angeles hip-hop radio program The Cruz Show he's been getting tweets from "angry old white dudes in Australia".
