IAEA Chief: Iran Living Up to Nuclear Deal

IAEA Chief: Iran Living Up to Nuclear Deal

If sanctions are re-imposed under other pretexts, he added, Iran will definitely withdraw from the nuclear deal.

Salehi made his most recent remarks following meetings with Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Yukiya Amano, in Tehran.

Organised by the International Atomic Energy Agency, IAEA, in cooperation with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development's Nuclear Energy Agency, OECD NEA, the conference, which convenes every four years, is hosted by the UAE Ministry of Energy and Industry and will discuss trends, challenges and opportunities in developing peaceful nuclear energy. He said, "The IAEA can state that such nuclear-related commitments are being implemented".

"As of today, I can state that the nuclear-related commitments made by Iran under the JCPOA (nuclear deal) are being implemented", Yukiya Amano said at a press conference in Tehran broadcast by state television.

Having nuclear weapons 'matter of life and death' for North Korea: agency
Pompeo says the US ought to behave as if North Korea is on the cusp of having the capability to launch a nuclear attack.

Rouhani's office issued a statement describing Iran's adherence to the deal as "complete and remarkable".

"We have spoken about the section T and our positions have been clearly declared", Salehi said, referring one of the protocols of the nuclear deal struck under former President Barack Obama that restricts Iran's work on dual-use items that could be used to research warhead design. Salehi said that Iran could resume uranium enrichment of 20 percent within four days if it wished.

The accord between its five permanent members (China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States), plus Germany, the European Union (EU) and Iran, set out rigorous mechanisms for monitoring limits on Iran's nuclear programme, while paving the way for lifting UN sanctions against the country.

Prior to the meeting with Amano, Iran's president excoriated USA policies before his country's parliament.
