Iran Leader Warns about Sabotage in Tehran-Baku Ties

Iran Leader Warns about Sabotage in Tehran-Baku Ties

A trilateral meeting of the Azerbaijani, Russian and Iranian presidents will be held in Tehran today.

The meeting came hours before a Tehran-hosted summit between presidents of Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan to discuss trilateral and regional issues, including the Syrian crisis.

Russian Federation and Iran, which support President Bashar al-Assad's government, and Turkey, which backs Syrian rebels, have organised a series of peace talks in the Kazakh capital Astana this year, agreeing on the establishment of "de-escalation" zones in various parts of the war-torn country.

"In our relations with Iran, we are absolutely resolute and will not allow anyone to interfere in the relations between the two countries and disrupt them", underlined Aliyev. Our cooperation can isolate the United States. "But the issues of economic nature are at the forefront, of course", Putin said.

Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said the effective anti-terror cooperation between Iran and Russian Federation in Syria, which has led to the defeat of militants fighting the government there, demonstrates that Tehran-Moscow alliance is capable of achieving common goals.

Trump has called the agreement "the worst deal ever negotiated" and branded Iran a "terrorist nation" for involvement in conflicts in the Middle East.

He now faces one count of possession of more than 600 images of child pornography and 19 counts of sexual exploitation of a child. Los Angeles police said the investigation began after authorities discovered evidence inside a business in Sun Valley.

At the summit, Rouhani said interaction between the three countries helps promote regional cooperation and stability, adding that Iran "welcomes any idea and mechanism that could strengthen relations among Tehran, Moscow and Baku".

Russian Federation has criticized Trump's disavowal of the nuclear agreement, which has opened a 60-day window for the U.S. Congress to act to reimpose economic sanctions on Iran.

Wednesday's talks will also focus on the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, which saw sanctions lifted in exchange for limits on Tehran's atomic programme and which is under pressure from US President Donald Trump.

"This is a very important visit [by Putin]. Tehran has no other choice but to rely on Moscow to ease the US pressure", said the official.

During Putin's visit, Russian oil producer Rosneft and the National Iranian Oil Company agreed an outline deal to work on a number of "strategic" projects in Iran together worth up to $30 billion.
