DC Group Editor EDDIE BERGANZA Suspended Following New Allegation Details

DC Group Editor EDDIE BERGANZA Suspended Following New Allegation Details

Three former DC employees accused editor Eddie Berganza of sexual assault while they worked for the company.

The publishing house released a statement announcing Berganza's suspension and detailed how they are going to handle the issue saying, "DC Entertainment has immediately suspended Mr. Berganza and has removed him from performing his duties as Group Editor at DC Comics". DC promoted Berganza anyway and later demoted-but retained-him after another incident at WonderCon in 2012 in which Berganza reportedly shoved his tongue into a woman's mouth in a hotel lobby surrounded by multiple witnesses. The report went up last Friday, and Berganza was suspended by DC a day later. His photo was included on the cover of Saturday's New York Daily News, alongside the likes of Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey and Louis C.K., in an article on the recent wave of sexual misconduct allegations against powerful men in the entertainment industry, headlined "Perv Nation". BuzzFeed's article suggests that Berganza was the unnamed superior.

Cartoonist and editor Joan Hilty told BuzzFeed that at a staff party in the early 2000s, Berganza repeatedly and forcibly tried to kiss her, even after she told him no.

Asselin described Berganza's promotion to executive editor as 'massively demoralising'.

Employee Who Shut Down Trump's Twitter Hailed As Hero
Trump was back on Twitter soon after the account was restored, and the employee did not send or alter any tweets. Feel like I need to re-evaluate my life choices after reflecting on my reaction to Trump's Twitter.

DC Comics also reiterated its commitment to create a safe and secure working place for employees and everyone that's involved in creating their comic books.

Berganza, a 25-year veteran at DC Comics, was a group editor who oversaw production of major titles, including Superman, Supergirl, and Wonder Woman. But for the victims, as well as the larger crowd of women who are noted to have avoided work at DC because of the well-known threat of Berganza, this will hopefully be a fresh start.

DC was unmoved, and Berganza stayed in his role until Buzzfeed published its report. In light of those allegations, Berganza's work at DC had ceased while the company conducted a "review" of the accusations.

According to BuzzFeed, DC put out a statement insisting that they were "committed to eradicating harassment", echoing a similar sentiment they put out over the weekend.
