It promises to provide better power efficiencies, reliable performance, and always-on connectivity compared to the x86 Intel-based computers that have existed so far. The San Diego chipmaker announced a two-in-one PC form factor powered by the Snapdragon 835 that has some big name hardware partners like Asus and HP behind it. They all support standard Windows 10 features, such as a touchscreen, Windows Hello, and pen input. The device runs Windows 10 S out of the box, you will however able to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro.

The Asus NovaGo is expected to be available from early next year.

The ASUS NovaGo, however, features a more traditional thin-and-light notebook design with a 360-degree hinge.

However, the 845 is also likely to appear in a host of "Always Connected" Windows 10 laptops like the ASUS and HP convertibles also announced today.

The HP Envy x2 is more akin to a Microsoft Surface, with the ability to be used as a tablet, placed upright with a hinged stand on the back of the device, or connected to a keyboard mat.

If you want a bit more grunt and storage space, you can bump up the budget to $799 United States for the 8GB model of Asus NovaGo, complete with 256GB of storage.

This first wave of Windows 10 ARM laptops are powered by the Snapdragon 835 processor and have the X16 LTE modem for connectivity.

The Asus NovaGo price starts at just $599 for the 4GB of RAM with 64GB of storage variant, while you're looking at $799 for the 8GB/256GB model.

Microsoft has not said when the devices will be available for purchase or released pricing details for the PCs, which run an "optimized" version of Office 365.

Microsoft today unveiled its first line of "Always Connected" PCs, a new generation of computers with built-in LTE connectivity and extra-long battery life. We haven't been told for sure that this element will come to the United Kingdom models, so stay tuned for an update.

The news followed Qualcomm's confirmation at the event that it will be launching a new mobile platform - the Snapdragon 845 system-on-chip.
