SC among 10 least healthy states, new reports says

But, as The Tulsa World reports, the state still ranks last in percentage of uninsured residents.

The 2017 annual report has unveiled that the country is going through serious public health challenges, including an uneven distribution of health care providers and rising rates of premature deaths.

The study shows that Oklahoma has jumped nine spots, up to 36th in the nation, when it comes to the rate of tobacco users.

MA got good marks in the report for having the highest concentration of mental health providers (547.3 per 100,000 population), more than 200 primary care physicians per 100,000 people, and more than 80 dentists per 100,000 people. The state also had a relatively low rate of cardiovascular deaths (208.3 per 100,000 people) and cancer deaths (183.6 per 100,000 people).

One of Minnesota's neighboring states, North Dakota, experienced the largest drop in the rankings, falling seven places to number 18.

The report emphasizes a recent overall national health trend that is highly troubling.

Yet the USA spends significantly more on health care - both per person and relative to its wealth - than other nations.

Allardyce: Klopp can moan all he wants, it was a penalty
Rooney converted the penalty easily and Klopp's anger boiled over post-match in a heated interview with a Sky Sports reporter. For all these games I really think if we have the quality in the squad that we have we have to use it.

This is the first time that the Bay State has been named the healthiest state, ending the five-year reign of Hawaii.

Chilly Massachusetts has bumped sunny Hawaii from the top spot as the healthiest state in the nation, a new report finds.

Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York and Rhode Island also had more than 200 primary-care physicians per 100,000. "Even the top US state in each of these measures ranks toward the bottom among OECD countries". That expansion is propelled in part by drug deaths, which grew 7% during the stipulated time and cardiovascular deaths, which went up 2%.

The rankings highlighted the vast differences in health and health care across the country. Massachusetts, for example, has 547 mental health providers per 100,000 people, while Alabama has 85 per 100,000.

Data used in the report is derived from a variety of sources, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the American Medical Association, the U.S. Census Bureau, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

"Increases in cardiovascular deaths and drug overdoses can be reversed, but it will take concerted action by government, health systems, communities and individuals", Frieden, now president and CEO of the group Resolve to Save Lives, wrote in an email.
