Longtime Atlanta news anchor Amanda Davis dies after suffering stroke

Amanda Davis has died after suffering a massive stroke. How did the well-known anchorwoman die?

Matters came to fore when Davis had a "medical emergency" at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Tuesday morning. "Our thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones during this hard time". She was an anchor for CBS 46 and often anchored the morning and midday news.

Davis is survived by her mother and daughter. It was while Davis was making her way to her father's hometown in Texas that she suffered the stroke. Davis was also honored with the Keenan's Kids Foundation Media Award for her work with "Wednesday's Child", a segment on Fox5 dedicated to helping foster children in Atlanta to find families.

She had recently written about her father's death on Twitter.

Flu season likely to peak in the coming weeks
Randall Williams said, "We know that historically, the intensity or prevalence of flu can vary from year to year". The more people who get it, he said, the less likely there will be a serious flu problem in the country.

Davis, who had been a television anchor in Atlanta for more than 25 years, was anchor for WGCL-TV's morning news and noon show. "Before that, she had been a reporter and anchor for Atlanta's Fox affiliate, WAGA-TV, prior to leaving the station in 2013", 9News reported.

She was arrested and charged with DUI after driving the wrong way on Piedmont Avenue in Midtown Atlanta in 2012 while she was at WAGA. She had spoken candidly about her battles with alcoholism, the newspaper recalled. Amanda has been open about her struggle with alcoholism.

Davis had also shared a Facebook post about celebrating Christmas after losing a loved one.

Davis, a popular face in Atlanta news, wasn't shy about sharing her story of overcoming the odds. "Amanda Davis persevered through it all, despite the dark time she knew her goal and it was her passion".
