CBFC wants the Padmavati title to be modified as Padmavat

CBFC wants the Padmavati title to be modified as Padmavat

The film Padmavati, starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, was slated to be released on December 1.

Padmavati, the movie which has created a lot of controversies since last few months, has finally gotten a nod from the censor board.

Joshi added that the producers and the director of the film are "completely in agreement" with the proposed modifications. A meeting is reportedly on the cards between the filmmakers and censor board officials in January.

Overall, Joshi said giving the movie U/A certification "was an unprecedented and tough situation".

According to the CBFC, the film was approached with a "balanced view keeping in mind both the filmmakers and the society". "Members of the committee formed to review the film have opposed it but the censor board is taking this decision due to underworld pressure".

"Padmavat" is the name of an epic poem written in the middle ages by Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi.

Historians are divided over whether Padmavati ever existed.

The Salvation Army to announce Tree of Lights Campaign progress
A food donation made by a Farmington man to a local charitable organization will help feed more than 200 people this Christmas. Morman believes the campaign will exceed its goal yet again this year.

"We had given a whole list of objections regarding the movie", Ajit Singh, president of Rajput Karni Sena, told Reuters.

Please Wait while comments are loading. For now, I would like to point out that only three of the nine panel members have watched the screening. It earlier said the film captured "Rajput valor, dignity and tradition in all its glory".

Deepika Padukone's Padmavati has probably become the most controversial film of the Bollywood industry at least in the recent times.

Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, chief of the Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, warned of a violent stir if the film was released. "Our people will be outside cinema halls and each hall which shows the film will be vandalised. We want a complete ban", he said.

Vishvaraj also mentioned that he earlier wrote a letter on December 22 stating, "The fact remains that my questions are relevant for every member of the proposed committee and without resolving the same, the committee's findings shall remain a mirage". In fact, the songs Sati and Ghoomar will also come with a disclaimer. They said queens never performed Ghoomar, a traditional folk dance.

"So Bhansali can now actually throw a party. Now that Gujarat and Himachal are won, "Padmavati" has got its U/A, it will be praised..."
