Former FBI Asst Director: 'Nothing About Clinton Investigation Was Right'

Former FBI Asst Director: 'Nothing About Clinton Investigation Was Right'

Officials' questions include how much classified information was sent over Clinton's server; who put that information into an unclassified environment, and how; and which investigators knew about these matters and when.

Investigators previously determined Clinton's email habits didn't break the law.

. Republicans on the committee say McCabe outlined some irregularities that suggest the outcome of the investigation was rigged in Clinton's favor. During the investigation, the FBI recovered some work emails which had not been turned over to the State Department by Clinton.

He has also claimed that the investigation into Clinton's server-overseen by former FBI director James Comey (who Trump fired in May 2017)-was "rigged".

Democrats have accused Republicans of launching a spurious investigation of Clinton, the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee, to divert attention from Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into possible collusion between President Donald Trump's election campaign and Russian Federation.

Trump's tweet on Tuesday coincided with arguments by his allies on Capitol Hill that the FBI investigation is biased against him and that there is a plot to undermine the President.

Trump's new attack was just his latest assault against the former Democratic nominee and her staff in a sequence that has continued long after the end of the 2016 election campaign.

"The saddest thing is that because I'm the President of the United States, I am not supposed to be involved with the Justice Department", Trump said.

In December, Trump launched a stunning attack on the Federal Bureau of Investigation following the disclosure of text messages ridiculing him between an Federal Bureau of Investigation official who later wound up on Mueller's team and a colleague. On Tuesday, he seemed to suggest Clinton's aide Huma Abedin should be jailed after the State Department released emails from Abedin containing classified material that were found on the computer of her husband, the disgraced ex-congressman Anthony Weiner.

Comey had said, even as he recommended they not be charged, that Clinton and her aides were "extremely careless" in their handling of classified information, and the president's tweet seizes on that theme. In a second tweet that month, the president asked "why didn't A.G. Sessions replace Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe, a Comey friend who was in charge of Clinton investigation", referring to Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

The Hill published a story today based on leaks from a recent House Judiciary Committee meeting where FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe discussed elements of the Hillary Clinton email investigation.

With the connivance of the Obama administration, Abedin and Clinton also purloined call logs, scheduling documents, and files described as "Muslim Engagement" from the Department of State when they left their jobs there.
