'Red Sparrow' Trailer Teases Manipulative, Dangerous Jennifer Lawrence

The upcoming thriller, from director Francis Lawrence, follows the life of Dominika Egorova - a ballerina who suffers an injury that destroys her career. After much torture and the "sadistic training process" of the Sparrow School, Dominika comes out the most risky Sparrow the school has ever produced.

Spy thriller "Red Sparrow" stars Oscar victor Jennifer Lawrence as a deadly seductress. She also begins a relationship with a Central Intelligence Agency agent played by Joel Edgerton, who tries to convince her to become a double agent. "To see her transform in a courageous way and truly push herself into a new territory has been one of the most exciting things about this project".

The trailer shows footage of her training with multiple young women as Charlotte Rampling's character asserts, "From this day forward, you will become Sparrows".

Also interesting is that it seems like Dominika is very much all about her own goals. The film sees Lawrence play a Russian ballet dancer who's ordered by her government to help them assassinate an enemy in exchange for helping her mother receive medical treatment and, subsequently, so she can remain alive.

Four cops martyred in IED blast
The authorities had deployed additional police and paramilitary CRPF men in the town to thwart any protests. Shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic stayed off the roads.

It's not a bad accent, though it's clear why the first trailer wanted to focus on the eerie visuals and the wordless chemistry between Lawrence and Joel Edgerton's American CIA agent. Although her Russian accent might be a little shaky, her ability to kill a man has apparently not dimmed since The Hunger Games sailed off into its conclusion. "I'll find a way", she replies coolly.

"One of the things that drew me into the story, is that it really is a personal story for a character, which I think is pretty rare in terms of the spy genre".

Lawrence fans can check-out the new trailer below. From there, we're heading into particularly tropey territory-will Lawrence, the spy with a heart of gold, be able to extricate herself from the service of her (clearly evil) mother country?
