John Dickerson replacing Charlie Rose at 'CBS This Morning'

John Dickerson replacing Charlie Rose at 'CBS This Morning'

The announcement, from CBS News president David Rhodes on Tuesday, comes more than a month after Rose was sacked from the network amid allegations of sexual misconduct.

John Dickerson, the anchor of CBS' Sunday news show Face the Nation, will join Norah O'Donnell and Gayle King as CBS This Morning's third host, CBS News president David Rhodes announced Tuesday.

"John's impressive track record and strong all-around journalism extends our commitment to real news coverage every morning at CBS News", Rhodes said. "Every time I've been on the show, I haven't wanted the conversation with Norah and Gayle to end when my segment does".

Dickerson has anchored FACE THE NATION since June 7, 2015, as it generated some of its largest audience levels of the past three decades.

Dickerson joined CBS News in April 2009 as an analyst and contributor to all of the network's broadcasts and platforms.

And he has demonstrated a natural chemistry with King and O'Donnell when he filled in.

Dickerson begins anchoring on Wednesday. Months after Rose's departure from the network, CBS News also fired former political director Steve Chaggaris from the network. CBS News has not announced a replacement for Chaggaris.

United States television channel CBS announced today that its shamed millionaire news anchor, sacked for alleged sexual harassment, had been replaced by another man after its higher-rated rival appointed a woman. But NBC moved more quickly naming his replacement, decided not go go with another male co-host and opting instead for Hoda Kotb, who is very familiar to, and well liked by Today show viewers.

PBS and Bloomberg, which broadcast the "Charlie Rose" show, also said they were terminating their relationships with Rose and canceling distribution of his programs in the aftermath of the misconduct allegations.
