No West Ham interest, says Wenger

No West Ham interest, says Wenger

West Ham are reportedly interested in the Frenchman, while their London neighbours Crystal Palace are also said to be keen. Valencia are on the lookout for a midfielder with a defensive mindset and Coquelin seems to fit the bill, given his experience and age.

Arsenal duo Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny are among the players being considered by West Ham as manager David Moyes attempts to strengthen his midfield options this month, according to Sky sources.

Francis Coquelin is leaving Arsenal after nearly a decade at the club following the agreement of a £12 million transfer to Valencia.

Elneny's key strength - passing - is presently missing in West Ham's midfield, and he could be the much-needed link between defence and attack.

A new contract signed previous year means Arsenal collect a sizeable fee.

He said: "I would sign him and I want him here permanently, but that's not my job. It's very hard to talk about those who aren't".

However Wenger did admit that the player could well leave the Emirates during the January transfer window.

Coquelin has gone on to make a total of 159 first-team appearances under Arsene Wenger but has never found the back of the net.

Coquelin has only played 844 minutes in the Premier League this season.
