Honda Accord named vehicle of the Year

Honda Accord named vehicle of the Year

The Accord took home the prize for top auto, while the XC60 and Navigator were recognized as utility vehicle and truck of the year respectively.

The award for the 2018 vehicle of the year went to the Honda Accord, the Lincoln Navigator was named truck of the year, and the Volvo XC60 won utility of the year at the North American International Auto Show on Monday. It will go on sale early this year, Honda News reported.

Auto experts called the newly redesigned Accord the best iteration of its 41-year history, with sleeker styling and a roomier interior as well as a turbo-charged engine, CNN Money reported.

Lincoln seized its truck honor over General Motors Company (NYSE: GM)'s Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 and the Ford Exhibition.

Trump disputes newspaper quote attributed to him on North Korea
But I'll tell you, you know, when you talk about driving a wedge, we also have a thing called trade. The White House accused the Wall Street Journal of misquoting President Donald Trump .

Honda sold 322,655 Accords in the U.S.in 2017, a 6.5 percent decline over the previous year.

The awards, first given in 1994, are unique in North America since they are given by automotive journalists instead of by a single publication, website, radio or television program. "With its design more aligned with the Continental, the Navigator becomes an even more important image - and the profit-maker for Lincoln". "It was time to create a new Navigator and take that rightful place in the segment for Lincoln".

Last year's winners were the Chevrolet Bolt, Honda Ridgeline and Windsor-made Chrysler Pacifica.

To be eligible for the awards, a vehicle had to be new or substantially changed for the current year.
