Somalia Voices Support to Turkey's Afrin Operation to Clear Terrorist Groups

The Kurds' attempts to build their own administration there have alarmed Damascus, which rejects the idea of autonomy from the central state, and has threatened to crush what Assad called "traitors" to Syria.

The Kurdish forces in Syria and Iraq were allies of the US-led coalition formed to fight Islamic State.

"We consider Afrin an inseparable part of Syrian territory", Issa said.

The United States has told Turkey it will not provide any more weapons to the Syrian Kurdish YPG militia, Turkish state media said on Saturday, as Turkey's offensive by against the USA -backed YPG in Syria entered its eighth day.

Turkey's state-run Anadolu news agency said on Saturday that Ibrahim Kalin, spokesman for President Tayyip Erdogan, and U.S. National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster held a phone call on Friday in which McMaster confirmed the United States would no longer provide weapons to the YPG. First, it identified its goals - to eliminate the YPG - and then it evaluated the consequences of its policy choices, in order to come to the most rational decision. For Turkey, this military operation was the most rational choice. As in all military involvements, there are clear goals to be accomplished as well as long-term strategic objectives.

It must be noted that Turkey's air and ground operation has been targeting US -backed Kurdish YPG fighters, in Syria's Afrin region, for the past five days.

The dispute over the contents of the telephone call is exacerbating a lack of trust between the two North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies.

"Supporters of war are also accomplices to war".

Turkey views the YPG as an extension of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), a Kurdish group it has designated as an extremist organization.

At least for part of a game, James and his teammates can put that squabbling behind them and celebrate his undeniable greatness. The post received mixed reviews, with some joining in the congratulating and acknowledging James' right to be proud of himself.

Turkey considers the YPG a terrorist group but the militia has played a prominent role in USA -led efforts to combat the hardline Islamic State in Syria. When we call on a country, especially a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation ally, to escalate the situation, we hope that our concerns will be taken very seriously. He called it a grave and very painful situation, accusing the United States of working with terrorist organizations.

Experts said that Russian Federation is seeking a solution in Idlib that sees the regime reimpose its control, which gave Turkey the green light to enter Afrin that will act as a "consolation prize" instead of Idlib.

Kurdish militias shelled the Turkish province of Kilis across the border in response to the Turkish attack.

"We clearly told our friends and allies they should not support YPG", he said while in Brussels on Thursday. But Defense Secretary Jim Mattis says Ankara has "legitimate" security concerns and had given Washington advance warning of the operation.

The Turkish objective, announced after the launch of the operation, was to establish a 30km buffer zone inside Syria to shield Turkish border towns from incursions or rocket attacks. But he said that, before debating, it was necessary to restore confidence "between Ankara and Washington".

But Jamie Janson, the grandson of the Countess of Sutherland, claims that he is just that as he prepares to fight the Turkish army in Syria.

Ankara is at odds with Washington on issues besides Syria.

Erdogan, quoted by the Turkish presidency, said that once the "terrorist cleansing" ends in Afrin, the area will turn over to its "main residents". The cleric, who lives in self-imposed exile in the state of Pennsylvania, denies the accusation.
