Newly-appointed Hurriyat chief Ashraf Sehrai's son joins Hizbul Mujahideen

Newly-appointed Hurriyat chief Ashraf Sehrai's son joins Hizbul Mujahideen

The written message on the picture suggests that the Junaid has joined Hizb- ul-Mujahideen militant outfit.

The development comes days after Geelani handed the baton of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat to Sehrai, one of the few men who have worked with Geelani for decades, after the group's executive council choose Sehrai as its chairman. "We have received a complaint about the missing Junaid Khan, who is the son of Mr. Sehrai", said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Srinagar, Imtiyaz Ismail Parray. An unverified photograph of him wearing an ammunition vest and holding an AK47 rifle has gone viral on WhatsApp, minutes after it was released by an unknown source. That makes him the first among the family members of the current top separatist leadership to take up arms. The description of the picture reads that Khan has pursued Masters Degree in Business Administration from Kashmir University and has been code-named as Amaar Bhai.

A senior police officer said there are rumors of Junaid having joined militancy but he will not confirm them. Junaid has done his MBA from Kashmir University.

In an interview with the Greater Kashmir, Sehrai had said that ISIS/Daesh and such ideologies will never be accepted.
