At least two persons were killed and almost a dozen others injured, some of them seriously, in intermittent violence involving Ramanavami processions at various places in West Bengal, including Purulia, Murshidabad, Bardhman West and Raniganj. Peace has been restored with additional police forces patrolling the area, District Magistrate Shashanka Shetty said. She said action would be taken against police if they failed to take measures in this regard. "Sixteen persons have been arrested".
