Rain and Snow Showers Continue 3-28-18

Snow appears set to hit Scotland today, with yellow weather warnings issued for tonight and Monday.

Thursday will see a three-way split, with showery rain pushing in from south-west England, rain across the far north east of Scotland falling as snow over the hills, and a large amount of fine weather in between.

"Several centimetres of snow are possible, especially over hills, with drifting in strong winds".

"Down to relatively low levels overnight and that could cause a few problems certainly potentially turning things icy for Friday morning".

Power cuts are also possible in rural areas.

Wednesday will start dry before rain develops for Denver and the Front Range in the afternoon. Forecasters indicate a 40 percent chance of precipitation, with little or no snow accumulation.

The Met Office's Alex Deakin said this morning: "It is a cold start to the day".

"Most spring flowers, daffodils and primroses for example are incredibly tolerant of bad weather despite their delicate looks and won't be much hurt by chill or rain". There will be quite a range of temperatures with areas in the south reaching double figures whilst some parts of Scotland struggle to get above 5degC or so.

"We'll continue to see bands of rain spiralling across the United Kingdom throughout the Easter weekend".

A WXChart map shows the United Kingdom will be battered by more snow this Bank Holiday weekend with parts of the county suffering from up to 25cm of snow on Easter Monday.

"It is also going to be windy and along the east coast we could see gusts of 45mph which is just about gale-force, this is a relatively deep low-pressure system".

Carletta said temperatures for the weekend, which are expected to be in the upper teens on Saturday and mid- to low 20s on Sunday, are below normal temperatures for this time of year.

Sunday night, the low will be around 31, according to the weather service. The snow remained on the ground until early April.
