COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - According to officials with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, the driver of the bus, 61-year-old Steven F. One passenger told troopers he had decided before the crash: "I'm not riding back with him. I'll call an Uber".

Nine of the victims of Thursday's tour bus crash are being treated at Doctors Hospital.

Then the bus careened off the road, spun around and then skidded on its side a good distance, Plowman said. He said the bus was filling up with smoke as he climbed through a window above his head. "But everybody's alive. We're thankful for that". The accident snarled traffic as scores of fans made the pilgrimage to one of golf's premier events.

At least one lane of traffic is blocked both directions.

The Georgia Department of Transportation reports that eastbound drivers should seek alternate routes.

The bus is owned by Jet Executive Limousine, GSP said. The company is based out of Suwanee, according to its website.

Now we have 7 people in the hospital, instead of at Amen Corner eating a pimento cheese sandwich with an icy cold beer.
