Meeting With Kim Jong Un To Take Place in May or June

North Korea has told the United States for the first time that it is prepared to discuss the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula when North Korean leader Kim Jong Un meets President Donald Trump, a US official said on Sunday.

Trump later threatened to hold off on signing the renegotiated deal until after his summit with Kim, which was widely seen as a move to pressure Seoul to remain tough with Pyongyang.

North and South Korea will hold their first summit in more than a decade towards the end of April.

North Korean officials have told their U.S. counterparts that Kim Jong Un is ready to discuss denuclearization, an assurance that could pave the way for a planned meeting with President Donald Trump, reports said. But we have a meeting that is being set up with North Korea.

Bolton, in a March interview, said that his preference will be for precisely a Libya-style settlement of North Korea's nuclear program, which remains both unrealistic and dead on arrival.

A letter from Principal Ty Thompson sent to families on Friday said that step has not been taken yet. Jack said there are no metal detectors at the entrances yet, but he's expecting that to come soon.

Trump has said that Kim is suddenly interested in talking with the outside world because of his "maximum pressure" campaign against the North Korean leader.

Mike Pompeo, CIA director who is nominated to assume the post of secretary of state, and his team had been working with their North Korean colleagues through intelligence channels to prepare the meeting, CNN reported. A meeting between the two world leaders has been on the table since a surprise announcement was made by a South Korean official in May. The North had conveyed the invitation to a visiting delegation from South Korea, which in turn travelled to Washington and relayed the message to Trump.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is willing to "completely denuclearize", in return for a security guarantee from the United States, Japanese media reported Monday. Even after Kim visited Beijing, there was no mention of the same came up. Ri also paid a visit last month to Sweden, which acts as a diplomatic go-between for Washington and Pyongyang.

The ruling party's meeting was held two days before the annual session of the North Korean parliament on Wednesday, which will mainly discuss issues like national budget and personnel reorganization. He did not clarify where the session might take place.

But many in Washington seem to have another misguided assumption about those talks, analysts here say.
