Israel's Labor cuts ties with Corbyn, citing anti-Semitism and hatred of Israel

Israel's Labor cuts ties with Corbyn, citing anti-Semitism and hatred of Israel

Ahead of Israel's Holocaust Memorial Day which begins on Wednesday night, Israeli Labour leader Avi Gabbay wrote to Jeremy Corbyn telling him of the suspension.

A letter from Avi Gabbay accused the Labour boss of showing "hostility to the Jewish community" and allowing "anti-Semitic statements and actions" as leader of the party.

British Labor Party leader Jeremy Corbyn on Saturday condemned the "illegal and inhumane" violence against Palestinians by the Israeli state.

Britain's Labour Party has been mired in controversy over allegations of widespread anti-Semitism in the party's ranks, with some criticizing Corbyn personally for not doing enough to tackle the matter.

Mr Corbyn said he was "determined" that there would be "no racism in any form" within the Labour Party.

The suspension of ties applies only to Corbyn's office and not the party as a whole.

Israeli Labour is part of the "Zionist Union" faction in Israel's Knesset that controls 24 of the legislature's 120 seats.

The couple, who have another daughter and a son, never left Chengdu, in the hope that Qifeng would find her way back to them. Kang contacted Wang and the pair realised that she shared some particular features including a small scar on her forehead.

Giving his reaction to LBC's political editor Theo Usherwood, the Labour leader said: "Maureen, if you want to live in a decent society where the homeless are housed, where the poor are supported and looked after".

He kept describing her as "a great actress" instead of addressing the accusations of anti-Semitism.

It adds: "While there are many areas where our respective parties can and will cooperate, we cannot retain relations with you, Leader of the Labour Party UK, while you fail to adequately address the anti-Semitism within Labour Party UK".

Miss Lipman said after the protest: "I think it is time Jeremy Corbyn leaves centre stage because he is malign. I am a strong believer that engaging in meaningful dialogue is crucial to finding effective solutions and resolving disputes, and I am clear that such a meeting would be just the start of a fruitful ongoing exchange on eradicating antisemitic behavior and discourse within the Labour Party".

James Sorene, CEO of Israel and Middle East think tank BICOM said: "The Israeli Labour Party has been close to its United Kingdom sister party for decades. Clearly this proves that the Jewish Labour Movement's work is more important than ever, and we're not going anywhere".

The protest was called after the Board of Deputies took the unprecedented step of organising a demonstration outside Parliament a fortnight before in a protest at Mr Corbyn's inaction.
