Riyad Mansour calls to set up independent commission to investigate Israeli crimes

Riyad Mansour calls to set up independent commission to investigate Israeli crimes

The Israeli military said on Saturday it would investigate why a 15-year-old Palestinian was shot in the head during clashes along the Gaza-Israel border on Friday.

Palestinian officials identified those killed as Mohammed Ibrahim Ayyoub, 15, Ahmed Rashad, 24, Ahmed Abu Aqil, 25 and Saad Abdul Majid Abdul-Aal Abu Taha, 29.

Several thousand Palestinians participated in the protests Friday, the fourth large-scale demonstrations since late March.

Many repeated claims that Israel's national intelligence agency, Mossad, were behind the killed of Fadi, who is said to have links with Palestine's Hamas. Most kites were stitched together in the colors of the Palestinian flag.

Israel's use of live fire has drawn worldwide criticism and Ayoub's death received special attention.

Some 3,000 Palestinians protested along the Gaza border with Israel on Friday, burning tires and flying flaming kites across the frontier to set Israeli fields ablaze, witnesses and the army said. That day will mark the 70th anniversary of Israel's establishment - an event Palestinians refer to as the "Nakba" or "Catastrophe".

The latest deaths brought to 38 the toll of those killed by Israeli forces since March 30, with hundreds of others also wounded by gunfire, according to Gaza's health ministry.

"The Israelis pushed the Egyptians to mediate, but the movement was disinterested, and so for this reason, they could continue using live ammunition against them until they stop".

National Football League to release regular season schedule Thursday
The Jacksonville Jaguars will host the Philadelphia Eagles and the Los Angeles Chargers will host the Tennessee Titans . It has now been 10 years since the National Football League chose to play games outside of the United States.

Palestinians pull barbed wire from the border fence with Israel during weekly Friday clashes, in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, on April 20, 2018.

In all, the Gaza ministry said that some 445 people were injured, including 96 from live fire.

The call came a day after the death of photographer Yaser Murtaja, who lost his life after being shot in the stomach by Israeli forces, despite wearing a blue flak jacket marked with the word "press".

Asaad Abu Shariek, a spokesman for the Great March of Return, said the movement was hoping the large turnout would sway global opinion against Israel.

Around 10,000 Palestinians took part in the fourth consecutive Friday of the "Great March of Return", the army said. "South Africa used this method [against apartheid], and they emerged victorious, and I think we will be no exception".

Fourteen-year-old Mohammad Ayoub ignored his mother's objection and slipped away to join this week's protest along the Gaza-Israel border, just hours after Israel's military dropped leaflets in his Gaza village warning residents to stay away.

"We will not bargain on the Palestinian people's rights in exchange for bread", he said.

Demonstrators demand that Palestinian refugees be granted the "right of return" to their towns and villages in historical Palestine from which they were driven in 1948 to make way for the new state of Israel.
