Japan April services activity grows fastest in six months - PMI

Panellists reported that stronger market demand led to greater client wins.

The rate of input price inflation faced by euro area manufacturers remained substantial in April, despite easing to an eight-month low.

New orders contracted to the fastest pace since July 2017 while new export orders fell to the lowest since December 2016. According to the apex bank: "The manufacturing and non-Manufacturing PMI report on businesses is based on survey responses, indicating the changes in the level of business activities in the review month compared with the preceding month". The drop in the annual growth rate was the sharpest from one month to the next since August 2009. Panelists attributed the fall in exports to weaker demand from China and Japan and the stronger Korean won.

However, the report showed that demand in the sector remained subdued, and new work increased only marginally, although employment numbers rose for the 21st month in a row.

Mirroring the trend for business activity, latest data revealed a renewed rise in new order volumes thoiugh in some cases, construction firms noted that a knock-on impact from unusually bad weather conditions had contributed to delays with sales completions during the latest survey period.

He felt he should have been a top-three pick and frankly didn't like being the fourth quarterback selected. Rosen is raring to go, and he's determined to prove his doubters wrong in a bigger way than ever before.

On the price front, input price inflation softened in April, while firms raised their selling prices at an accelerated pace. All of the nations covered registered an increase in charges, with the steepest seen in Germany and the weakest in Greece.

It is expected that India will claim top spot as the world's fastest-growing major economy this year, but rising trade tensions between the United States and China may restrain growth.

Zhao Qinghe, an economist with the NBS, said that as the nation's manufacturing sector maintains stable growth, especially among high-quality and high-tech companies, the profitability of manufacturers improved during the past month.

And despite rising domestic orders, rising output and the improving economic climate, Indonesian manufacturers became less optimistic about the year ahead, with the level of positive sentiment touching the weakest position for 64 months and falling below the historical average. The former rose at the fastest pace in 2018 so far, while inventories of finished goods were depleted at the joint-fastest rate in the survey history.
