Best new features coming to iPhone, iPad with iOS12

Best new features coming to iPhone, iPad with iOS12

Apple's senior vice president of software engineering, Craig Federighi, said it was important to sometimes "stop distractions" caused by smartphones.

Apple chief executive Tim Cook, meanwhile, told developers the "app ecosystem" developed by the iPhone maker will soon have delivered more than US$100 billion (S$133.6 billion) to partners.

At WWDC, Mr Federighi also revealed Apple was increasing its data protection features so that any apps that ask to use a Mac's camera or microphone will need permission from the user. Apple said Siri will suggest to call people if your calendar knows it is their birthday, or remind you to turn off notifications when you're at the movies.

"What we did was we integrated the ability to share in the operating system, make it simple to share a photo and that sort of thing", Cook also added. At WWDC 2018 while it introduced new features in the iOS 12 and the MacOS Mojave, Apple took a direct - and quite a nasty - swipe at Facebook and Google. The example that Apple used was the Facebook comments plug-in that allows you to comment on articles or on websites through a Facebook-powered comments system.

After years of working to make the smartphone indispensable ― some might even say addictiveApple said Monday that it will soon provide an app created to help people step away from the iPhone.

Argentina Drops Friendly With Israel Amid 'Threats' to Messi, 'Provocations'
Argentina's national football team has cancelled an upcoming friendly match with Israel , Argentine news sources reported. Reports also surfaced earlier Tuesday of a Palestinian threat to torpedo Argentina's bid to host the 2030 World Cup.

Facebook has had to rethink its relationship to such third-party data providers and developers. Cook said he'd been testing them out and was alarmed at what he found.

Part of the reason iOS 12 is able to support phones as old as the iPhone 5s is because of a software adjustment that ramps the phone up to its full performance potential as needed (e.g. when you're loading an app) and then brings it back down more quickly to preserve battery.

The App Limits feature lets users - you guessed it - set a limit for the amount of time they can spend in each app. While Facebook generates revenue from ads targeted with detailed information about users, Apple makes most of its money selling hardware products.

With it, iPhones users can see how much time they're spending on their phones and for what.

Also in iOS, a new Do Not Disturb function can impose a black sleep screen on your iPhone, lest your sleep be distracted by middle-of-the-night notifications. We've never been in the data business.
