Instagram launches Music In Stories feature | Digital

The feature, which is rolling out to iOS and Android today, lets users add music to Stories via a new music sticker, which will appear next to GIF, location, and other sticker add-ons.

"When your friends are watching your story, they'll hear the song playing as they're viewing your photo or video".

Announced via Instagram's blog, the social network is adding a music sticker and a music mode option to Stories. The new music feature will draw from an ever-growing library of songs sorted by mood, genre, popularity, or simply song titles and artists on the app itself, you'll now be able to search for a song and choose the exact moment you want to add to your story. Tapping on it opens a library which has thousands of soundtracks where you can either browse or search for your favourite song. Be on the lookout for new songs to be added daily.

Instagram will introduce a number of updates and third-party app integrations to facilitate it's popular feature - Stories. Additionally, the feature is now only in select countries.

The feature will enable users to add a soundtrack to their photo or video on Instagram Stories, which is now used by more than 400 million people daily. Additionally, the option to choose a song before capturing video is now only available on iOS platform, with Android rollout expected soon.
