3 dead, 7 wounded after gunmen fire on crowd in New Orleans

New Orleans mayor LaToya Cantrell issued a statement Saturday condemning the shooting, adding "we will dedicate every resource necessary to ending this horror and seeing justice done".

Harrison said that one of the three people who were killed at the scene was found in the 2800 block of Louisiana Avenue.

Three of the seven injured people were taken by ambulance to University Medical Center's trauma center, police said.

"A lot of people were out here tonight, a lot of people we know saw what happened and heard what happened", Harrison said, during a press conference.

"This is an extremely tragic incident", he told reporters.

Another man and woman were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Three died and seven others were taken to area hospitals. Police say the other six are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the four remaining victims were transported in private vehicles. "And we need more than anything for people to come forward to help the NOPD right now solve this case", Harrison said.

Police were called to reports of shots being fired at 9pm (local time).

Authorities have also yet to disclose any information about the suspects in the shooting.

"I speak for everyone in our city when I say we are disgusted and infuriated, and we have had more than enough", she wrote.

The New Orleans Advocate reported the shooter targeted Jeremiah Lee ran across a street and into a large group of people before he fell in front of the Chicken & Watermelon eatery. Three more lives - gone.
