Fire whirl brings critical conditions in Northern…

As firefighters work to quell the devastating Carr Fire, another wildfire raging in Mendocino County has become larger in size.

Firefighters from 16 states have rushed to California, and authorities are reinforcing 3,232 personnel on the Mendocino Complex Fire, which is made up of two blazes.

Wind-driven flames roll over a hill towards homes during the River Fire (Mendocino Complex) near Lakeport, California, U.S. August 2, 2018.

As of the latest update, the Carr wildfire has now destroyed 1,060 residential properties, 19 commercial properties and 474 farm buildings, outbuildings and the like (which can often also be insured). Over 20,000 residents in Lake and Mendocino counties are now being evacuated. New mandatory evacuation orders were issued Fiday for residents living near the Mendocino Complex Fires.

The Carr wildfire, near Redding, California, has been burning for some days now and has expanded to cover an area of nearly 127,000 acres, with the burn still only 37% contained.

The Carr fire burns along Highway 299 between Whiskeytown and Redding, July 28, 2018.

The cause of the fire is said to be "mechanical failure of a vehicle", according to Cal Fire. It has destroyed 1,567 homes and other structures and blackened 133,924 acres (54,197 hectares), making it the sixth most destructive California wildfire on record.

"I'm waiting to probably break down any minute here".

3 dead, 7 wounded after gunmen fire on crowd in New Orleans
Harrison said that one of the three people who were killed at the scene was found in the 2800 block of Louisiana Avenue . Police say the other six are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

These numbers are likely to rise further, given the Carr fire is still only 37% contained and the weather conditions will remain conducive to burns, making fighting the fire more hard.

The fire has charred an area of the forested, rural area five times the size of San Francisco and is only 30 percent contained. "Whatever resources are needed, we're putting them there", said California Gov.

Following years of drought and a summer of record-breaking heat, enormous tracts of forests, chaparral and grasslands have become tinder that allows even a small spark to explode into a devouring blaze, authorities said. "We're in uncharted territory", said Brown.

The National Park Service said Yosemite Valley is not threatened by the fire as of Friday at noon. So far, 114 miles have been scorched.

The blaze is now 41 percent contained. Much of the park remains closed, something that has not happened since 1997 when the park flooded.

Those gusts were slowing efforts in the steep, rugged terrain to carve out buffer zones in front of the fire's leading edge, said Gabriel Lauderdale, a spokesman for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire). "But these are impacting communities", Cox said.

"The fire is still very active on top of Cow Mountain", he said, explaining that while dozer lines held on the west side of the mountain, they did not hold on the east side and the fire moved into Scotts Valley.
