The Cohen-Manafort fallout

The Cohen-Manafort fallout

News of the plea deal came the same time Trump's former campaign chairman Paul Manafort was indicted on five charges of tax fraud, one charge of hiding foreign bank accounts, and two charges of bank fraud.

The news came at the same time Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen was in a NY federal court to plead guilty to multiple counts of campaign finance violations, tax fraud and bank fraud.

Both cases highlight the mounting legal problems Trump faces.

At the same time, in another blow for the USA president, Paul Manafort, the man who once led Trump's election campaign in 2016, was found guilty of eight financial crimes. Russian Federation has denied meddling in the election, although USA intelligence agencies have concluded Moscow interfered.

In Virginia, prosecutors charged that Manafort hid millions of dollars to avoid taxes as he sought to bankroll an extravagant lifestyle.

But jurors were unable to reach a verdict on 10 charges, and Judge T.S. Ellis declared a mistrial on those counts. "So that is the functional equivalent of the word 'cooperate.' I don't know why ... they didn't use the word", Davis said.

"Mr. Manafort is disappointed of not getting acquittals all the way through or a complete hung jury on all counts", Downing told reporters.

"It does not involve me", he said, as he arrived for a campaign rally in West Virginia. Facing up to five years in prison, the admissions were a dramatic change from Cohen's earlier boasts that he was Trump's "fixer" and would "take a bullet" for the president.

Tyson Fury sets up Deontay Wilder fight after winning second comeback bout
At the conclusion of Saturday's fight, Wilder climbed into the ring to tell the audience that the fight was "officially on". Joshua v Fury would be massive for a United Kingdom and global audience, then Joshua-Wilder and then this.

Trump's attorneys said Cohen is lying in order to get better treatment from prosecutors over his own illegal conduct. To Cohen, Helsinki was a breaking point, Davis said.

The FBI raided Cohen's home and office on a referral from Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is looking into whether Trump sought to obstruct the Russian Federation meddling probe.

She asks Trump if he knew about Michael Cohen "payments", though Cohen in court Tuesday admitted he made just one payment, to Stormy Daniels, while arranging for Karen McDougal silence through a media company.

Rudy Giuliani, Mr. Trump's attorney, said in a statement: "There is no allegation of any wrongdoing against the President in the government's charges against Mr. Cohen. But they did not come out of campaign", Trump said, making it three times in all.

Speaking about the hush money, Trump's former lawyer said that he had paid $130,000 and $150,000 to two women, who he did not name. "Witch Hunt!" Trump tweeted.

"If anyone is looking for a good lawyer, I would strongly suggest that you don't retain the services of Michael Cohen!".

The subpoena was issued by the NY state tax department, the official said, after Cohen's lawyer, Lanny Davis, made comments about Cohen having information regarding the Trump Foundation, which is based in the state.

Lanny Davis told MSNBC that Cohen is "more than happy" to speak with the special counsel about "the obvious possibility of a conspiracy to collude and corrupt the American democracy system in the 2016 election", as well as other Russia-related subjects.
