Pakistan Denies US Statement on Pompeo-Imran Khan Conversation

Pakistan Denies US Statement on Pompeo-Imran Khan Conversation

US transcripts of the call state that Pompeo and Khan discussed the U.S.'s wishes for Pakistan to take "decisive action against all terrorists operating in Pakistan".

Among other issues which were discussed in the second cabinet meet of Imran Khan's government, it ordered an audit of all mega transport projects carried out in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces which were sanctioned during the previous government.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is supposed to visit Pakistan in September. While Qureshi said the conversation between Khan and Pompeo was "very good", telling reporters, "You will be surprised to know that the Pompeo urged a productive bilateral relationship with Pakistan", he reiterated his nation's call for a correction.

"There was no mention at all in the conversation about terrorists operating in Pakistan".

"I can only say we stand by our readout", Nauert told a news conference on Thursday, calling Pakistan "an important partner" in the region.

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had spent 51 billion Pakistani rupees ($417,825,150) government funds only in one year by exercising his "discretionary powers", Dawn News reported. "This should be immediately corrected", Mr Faisal said on Twitter.

NYU School Of Medicine To Pay Tuition For All Students
All students enrolled in the MD degree program are eligible, regardless of their financial need or academic performance. In 2017, 119 students matriculated from the medical school, which receives well over 7,000 applications a year.

This comes after spokesperson of Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Faisal, dismissed the statement issued by the United States saying that there was no mention about terrorists operating in Pakistan during Pompeo and Khan's conversation. "We all need to move forward with one heart & mind, that is what we're interested in", said Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan today.

Mr Khan is well known for his criticism of USA military policy in Afghanistan, but he said after winning elections last week that he seeks better relations with the United States after a series of aid cuts and the suspension of U.S. military training.

U.S. President Donald Trump has suspended all military assistance to Pakistan for not doing enough to prevent terrorist attacks on U.S. forces in Afghanistan.

Relations between the US and Pakistan have deteriorated since US President Donald Trump's administration began taking a hard line on Afghanistan past year.

The Pakistani foreign minister said Pakistan's "strained ties" with the USA have seen highs and lows and that the new government is determined to work to improve the relationship.
