Bill Belichick Tight-Lipped About Patriots’ Acquisition Of Josh Gordon

Bill Belichick Tight-Lipped About Patriots’ Acquisition Of Josh Gordon

The Cleveland Browns traded wide receiver Josh Gordon to the New England Patriots on Monday, but they also had three other suitors expressing interest.

It remains unclear exactly why the Browns made a decision to get rid of Gordon now, but NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the "release was not a result of a substance-abuse violation or failing a test".

The Patriots are sending a conditional fifth-round draft choice to the Browns for Gordon. But if Josh Gordon can stay eligible to play, he's going to be a monster by the end of this year.

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon catches a pass during Wednesday's practice for this weekend's regular-season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland.

Severe weather warning issued as Hurricane Helene bears down on Ireland
While now classified as a hurricane, Helene will be downgraded to a storm by the time it reaches the shores of Northern Ireland. Rain projections also increased, with some locations along the North Carolina coast now expected to get up to 40 inches.

As for Gordon's hamstring - ESPN's Adam Schefter says he's healthy enough to play THIS SUNDAY if needed.

Now, back to the football part of this story: Gordon has shown himself to be a rare talent, leading the NFL in receiving in 2013 with 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns despite only appearing in 14 games. Since then, Gordon's career has been plagued by suspensions and concerns over drug use as he missed the entire 2015 season for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

According to NFL Media's Mike Giardi, Gordon has yet to go through a physical with the Patriots, so perhaps, this is what Belichick is waiting for.

In five games last season with the Browns, Gordon recorded 18 receptions for 335 yards and a touchdown.
