Kavanaugh, accuser say they're ready to testify - but how?

Kavanaugh, accuser say they're ready to testify - but how?

Donald Trump will attack the California professor now accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault rather than reconsider the Kavanuagh nomination, sources tell 'Politico'. The letter described what she said was Kavanaugh's sudden and brutal assault on her at a high school party in "the early 1980s". "I thought he might inadvertently kill me", Ford told the newspaper, adding, "He was trying to attack me and remove my clothing".

Ford said she never discussed the incident with anyone until 2012, during a couple's therapy session with her husband, Russell Ford. Christine Blasey Ford, a college professor who teaches clinical psychology at Palo Alto University, has identified herself in an exclusive interview with the Washington Post.

The Post said Ford originally contacted her representative in the House, California Democratic Rep. Anna Eshoo, whose office sent her letter to Feinstein.

"This woman should not be insulted and she should not be ignored", Conway told Fox News.

But the allegations of sexual misconduct, particularly coming amid the #MeToo movement against sexual harassment, coupled with Ms Ford's emergence could complicate matters.

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, a member of the committee, said he would welcome hearing from Ford.

Grassley was scrambling Sunday to schedule staff telephone calls with both Kavanaugh and Ford, which he called "the standard procedure".

Following the initial firestorm over the allegation, leading groups on the left and right tell ABC News they are readying major advertising buys to push key Senators to either move forward on or put a stop to Kavanaugh's confirmation.

Nearly a quarter - 23% - didn't know whether the Senate should vote to confirm Kavanaugh, slightly fewer than "didn't know" about Thomas in July (pre-Hill accusations) - 31%.

Mr Kavanaugh is strongly opposed by some Democrats for his views on issues such as abortion, and it seems unlikely any of them will cross the aisle to vote with their Republican colleagues.

Luke Shaw suffers head injury in England-Spain match
Having got the assist to put England 1-0 up in the first half, Shaw's return to global football had started brilliantly. But Rashford has added to United's injury concerns after he was replaced late on in the game by Danny Welbeck .

Kavanaugh adamantly denies the allegation, as does the other man named by Ford, Mark Judge.

Kavanaugh denied the allegations outright.

"This is a completely false allegation", Kavanaugh said in a statement Monday morning.

The entire time, the media will cover the hearings, and the accuser, according to well-established norms - which is to say Ford will be treated like Anita Hill, not Juanita Broaddrick. Feinstein said she referred the matter to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and that the woman had requested confidentiality. As of Sunday afternoon, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley meant to move forward with the committee vote as planned.

"My client will do whatever is necessary to make sure that the Senate Judiciary Committee has the full story and a full set of allegations to allow them to make a full informed decision", Katz said. She told The Post there were four boys at the party but only two in the room. And there's nothing Kavanaugh can do or say that will clear his name. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley said he was trying to arrange to hear Ford in "an appropriate, precedented and respectful manner".

The assault accusation, made privately in July, took on new weight over the weekend when Ford went on the record with The Washington Post.

He said he wished Democrats had brought up the accusations against Kavanaugh sooner. Their fellow committee member Rhode Island Democratic Sen.

"This is about turnout", Mary Anne Marsh, a Democratic strategist from MA, said in a phone interview with Mic of the allegations' impact on the November vote.

Feinstein issued a statement on Sunday afternoon in support of Ford and calling for the FBI to investigate the matter before the Senate advances Kavanaugh's nomination.
