Barkan Industrial Park Shooter Still at Large

Barkan Industrial Park Shooter Still at Large

In the southern West Bank, forces raided Aida refugee camp, north of Bethlehem, detaining a woman and her 21-year-old daughter, identified as a former prisoner.

Locals said that Israeli forces detained Ashraf's mother, Wafaa Mahmoud Naawla, 54, along with his two sisters, Sundos, 20, and Hanadi, who is a mother of three children.

Since the attack was allegedly carried out by a Palestinian employed at the Barkan industrial zone, questions were raised over whether he knew the victims and over the motivation behind the shooting.

More than 260 Palestinians have also been killed over the same period.

Two Israelis were critically injured and later died of their wounds in the attack that took place in an industrial area near the settlement of Barkan in the central West Bank, according to the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation. Another brother was arrested previously in connection with the terror attack.

Clashes often erupt between Palestinian youth who attempt to block soldiers' passage, throwing stones and empty bottles and are met with live fire, rubber-coated steel bullets and tear gas canisters, often resulting in serious, sometimes fatal, injuries. It is a sub-machine gun version of the Swedish Carl Gustav rifle that can cost as little as $780 to produce.

A wave of Palestinian attacks against Israelis broke out in 2015, but they have since become sporadic.

Two trucks brought fuel across Israel's border into the Gaza Strip on Tuesday in a Qatari- and United Nations -backed effort to ease conditions in the enclave and stem any escalation in Palestinian-Israeli violence.

Hamas claimed responsibility for the West Bank murder, setting off a mass Israeli response against the group. Just as in Lebanon, Syria or anywhere else we should shoot to kill.

Under a blockade by Israel and Egypt created to isolate Hamas, Gaza has plunged into poverty. The West Bank has remained a bastion of calm by comparison but there are fears that tensions in the Strip and from such killings could spill over into the occupied territory.
