Six Palestinians martyred in clashes on Israel border

Six Palestinians martyred in clashes on Israel border

Hamas, the de facto governing authority in the Gaza strip, has orchestrated near-weekly protests along the border, pressing for an end to a stifling Israel-Egyptian blockade.

The majority were killed during border demonstrations, though others have died in airstrikes and tank shelling.

Israeli police said on Saturday they were investigating the death of a Palestinian woman in the occupied West Bank, after her husband said he suspected Israeli settlers had pelted their vehicle with rocks.

The Israeli army said five were shot dead after breaking through the border fence and attacking an army post.

Chanting anti-Israeli slogans, the Palestinian protesters burned tries, released dozens of arson balloons into Israel, cut the barbed wire of the border fence, and clashed with Israeli soldiers, eyewitnesses said. One Israeli soldier was killed. According to the Israeli military, all of the terrorists were killed.

A source at the Nablus hospital where Aisha al-Rawbi was brought said the 47-year-old was dead on arrival and that she had suffered a head injury. Her husband saw a group of settlers nearby, Rabi said.

Interpol president reported missing during trip to China
After being elected as the head of the global policing agency in November 2016, Meng took a particular interest in cyber-crime. French police are investigating the disappearance of the president of Interpol during a trip to China , authorities said.

Minutes after the incident, Israeli forces also entered the high school and provided protection for the settlers while escorting them out of the area.

The area is near several ultranationalist Jewish settlements.

Al-Qedra said that Ahmad al-Taweel, 27, Mohamed Ismail, 29, Ahmad Abu Ne'eim, 17 and Abdullah al-Daghma, 25, were killed in east of al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza Strip, close to the border with Israel. And on Thursday, a Palestinian man stabbed and wounded an Israeli soldier there, raising the possibility of a revenge attack.

Israeli troops are searching for the assailant, who was seen making his way toward Huwara, a Palestinian village near Nablus, Haaretz reported.

No Israeli troops were harmed, but at least 140 Palestinians were wounded by live bullets in one of the deadliest days in months. In recent weeks, it has stepped up its campaign, holding nighttime protests and adding new locations, such as along the beach.

Israeli army spokesman Jonathan Conricus said on Twitter an "organised attack" had involved around 20 Palestinians crossing the border after an explosive device destroyed a portion of the fence.
