Kudlow defends Mnuchin's Saudi Arabia trip amid search for missing journalist

Kudlow defends Mnuchin's Saudi Arabia trip amid search for missing journalist

Saudi Arabia is the world's top oil exporter, and Kudlow was asked on "Fox News Sunday" whether a Saudi response could affect energy prices.

"We encourage joint Saudi-Turkish efforts in that regard, and expect the Saudi Government to provide a complete and detailed response", said Jeremy Hunt, Jean-Yves Le Drian and Heiko Maas.

"So, we do that, we really are hurting our country a lot more than we're hurting Saudi Arabia".

US President Donald Trump has vowed "severe punishment" if Saudi Arabia was behind the disappearance of its dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi who is feared killed at the kingdom's consulate in Turkey.

Saudi Arabia and Turkey have given differing accounts of what happened to Khashoggi after he entered the consulate.

Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist and Saudi dissident, has not been seen since he entered the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul on October 2 to get documentation he needed in order to marry his fiancée. "We're going to get to the bottom of it and there will be severe punishment", Trump told CBS News.

According to a prince belonging to Saudi Royal family, 5 members of the Royal family who raised voice against the disappearance of Jamal Khashoggi have been put in jail.

American lawmakers in both parties have been more critical of Saudi Arabia, with several suggesting officials in the kingdom could be sanctioned if they were found to be involved in Khashoggi's disappearance and alleged killing.

Turkish officials have said he was killed on the premises and his body removed.

Eden Hazard reveals reason behind his resurgence under Maurizio Sarri
Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard has failed to dampen speculation linking him with Real Madrid, with the Belgian stating he is happy at the Blues now - but this is subject to change.

Saudi Arabia insists Mr. Khashoggi left the building safely and dismissed accusations that authorities had ordered his murder by a hit squad as "lies and baseless allegations". "There has been a kind of uncertainty surrounding the situation of the disappearance of Khashoggi, which has caused the market to fall", Mr. Zidan said.

However, Senator Marco Rubio (R-Florida) says the USA must take action against Saudi Arabia - including potentially regarding arms sales - if the allegations are proven true.

He believes it is part of an escalating crackdown orchestrated by Crown Prince Mohamed Bin Salman, to silence his critics.

"The Kingdom also affirms that if it receives any action, it will respond with greater action", the source added.

The White House is brushing aside threats by Saudi Arabia that it may economically retaliate for any USA punitive action imposed over the suspected murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, pledging a "swift, ..."

"If U.S. sanctions are imposed on Saudi Arabia, we will be facing an economic disaster that would rock the entire world", Aldakhil wrote on Sunday.

Trump has said he probably will not cancel a $110 billion arms deal with the Saudi government because that could unnecessarily harm the U.S.

"Since Saudi arms are being used to ravage Yemen and they are apparently complicit in the disappearance of Mr. Khashoggi, I can not support President Trump's proposed arms sale", Durbin said.

In a statement on Sunday, the kingdom said it rejected any threats of economic sanctions or political pressure and would retaliate accordingly.
