Russian Federation releases video showing Soyuz rocket failure as it happened

Russian Federation releases video showing Soyuz rocket failure as it happened

Russian officials believe that the defective component was damaged during assembly.

Smoke rise as the boosters of first stage of the Soyuz-FG rocket with Soyuz MS-10 space ship carrying a new crew to the International Space Station, ISS, separate after the launch at the Russian leased Baikonur cosmodrome, Kazakhstan.

Russian Federation suspended all launches after the accident on October 11, unprecedented for Russia's post-Soviet manned launches, that saw the rocket fail minutes after blast-off.

The rocket producer will also take apart two other rockets that have been recently assembled and are due to launch in the coming weeks and then re-assemble them, as they might have the same defect, Skorobogatov said. In fact, a Soyuz launch to carry cargo to the space station is scheduled for November 16 and a crewed launch set for December 3.

The crew - Nick Hague, a NASA astronaut, and Alexey Ovchinin, a Russian cosmonaut - had their space capsule ejected from the rocket and survived without injury.

About 90 seconds into the rocket's flight, the United States space agency Nasa reported a problem with the booster rocket between the first and second stages of separating.

But all of that damage was limited to one inning-the fourth, when he allowed three singles and a walk-and he regrouped quickly. Cora's other likely Game 3 option, righty Nathan Eovaldi , pitched out of the bullpen in each of the first two games.

Russian space agency Roscosmos said on Wednesday it hopes to resume manned missions with a three-person launch to the ISS on 3 December. This damage caused the rocket's built-in safety features to initiate an immediate abort before anyone even had a chance to think about it, and the two passengers soon found themselves flying back towards Earth in the crew capsule.

Neither man needed medical treatment and NASA TV said both were fine.

After investigating the incident, Russia's space agency, Roscosmos, determined that one of the rocket's boosters failed and remained stuck to the main rocket body instead of peeling off.

"It has been proven, fully confirmed that this happened specifically because of this sensor, and that could only have happened during the package's assembly at the Baikonur Cosmodrome."

They had initially been scheduled to land on December 13 after their stint on the ISS, a joint project of the space agencies of America, Europe, Russia, Japan and Canada.

A day earlier, Sergei Krikalyov, a senior Roscosmos official, told reporters a malfunction of a sensor that signals the jettisoning one of the rocket's four side boosters caused the booster to collide with the second stage of the rocket. However, the quick return to crewed flights is likely to prove a relief to the worldwide spaceflight community.
