The NFL Still Only Cares About Violence Against Women When There's Video

According to the Associated Press, the Chiefs issued a statement Friday shortly after the National Football League put Hunt on the Commissioner Exempt List that said the running back lied about the incident when asked about it by team officials.

Hunt was released by the Chiefs on Friday after the team learned about the video dating back to a February altercation with a woman in a Cleveland hotel. I'm not that type of person. I am not blaming anyone who was with him, but I wish someone that was with him, if he's not in his right mind. would've said to him, 'Look at the situation. "I was in the wrong, I could have took responsibility and made the right decision to find a way to deescalate the whole situation", Hunt said.

"The Chiefs are right; I didn't tell them everything", he said on ESPN's "Sunday NFL Countdown" in an interview that he requested.

"Honestly, I never met the girl before", Hunt said.

Most disturbing is the image of him kicking a woman and he offered no explanation for that.

The admission came during an interview with ESPN's Lisa Salters.

Watch NASA's InSight land on Mars tomorrow starting at 2PM ET
Last week the space agency announced that it has selected the location where its Mars 2020 Rover will land on the Red Planet. Onboard the vessel are a number of intricate instruments that NASA hopes will help uncover answers to Mars mysteries.

He said the episode started with a disagreement, escalated into an argument and then physical violence.

"They believed that I lied to them. I just want to apologize to everybody, the Chiefs organization, my family and close friends". "The video shows that I was in the wrong".

Their fan base, however, seems to be pretty torn on how they would feel if their team did indeed claim Hunt.

"Days after the incident, sources told us Hunt punched the resort guest in the face after he had been partying all weekend long at the pool and DJ booth". As the NFL Network's reliable Ian Rapaport put it, "Neither the NFL, nor the #Chiefs, had seen the video before it was published today". In the course of a few hours, Hunt was sent home from the facility, placed on the NFL's Commissioner Exemption List, and finally released by the AFC West-leading Chiefs. It's tough because I feel like I let a lot of people down. An independent investigation - which was led by Robert Mueller, now the special counsel investigating Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election - determined that there was no evidence the NFL had seen the Ray Rice video but that the league should have investigated more thoroughly.

"The NFL's ongoing investigation will include further attempts to speak to the complainants involved in the incident", the statement read.
