Kyler Murray, the quintessential Oklahoma Sooners quarterback

Murray beat out Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on 56 ballots submitted by AP college football poll voters and announced Thursday. It will be given out Saturday night in New York City. For the first time in 84 years, the top three vote-getters are quarterbacks of color: Oklahoma's Kyler Murray, Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa and Ohio State's Dwayne Haskins.

"Kyler Murray has accomplished more in one season and had more impact on the Sooners' tradition in one season than any other player in our history", said legendary former OU coach Barry Switzer.

That didn't stop one Ohio State fan from calling out Kirk Herbstreit on Twitter for ESPN's "typical Ohio State and Big Ten disrespect". No school has ever produced back-to-back Heisman Trophy winners who were quarterbacks.

While an Oklahoma quarterback sets his sights on the College Football Playoffs, he has another prestigious award to add to his collection. The last Walter Camp victor to miss out on the Heisman was Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o.

Trump Wants GM To Reimburse America For The Bailout?
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders did not elaborate as to what cuts could be enacted. Earlier this week, GM announced GM plans to close up to five plants by the end of the year.

Murray joins Baker Mayfield (2017), Josh Heupel (2000), Jason White (2003) and Sam Bradford (2008) as previous AP Player of the Year winners from Oklahoma.

Murray leads the country in total offense (4,945 yards), points responsible for (306) and passing efficiency (205.7). He received a $4.6 million signing bonus from the A's with the expectation that this would be his last season on the gridiron. Through 13 games, the sophomore has completed 67.7 percent of his passes for 3,353 yards and a school-record 37 touchdowns.

Murray will look to become OU's seventh Heisman victor and second straight (Mayfield).
