Jabari Parker may already be on his way out of Chicago

Malika Andrews of ESPN brings word that Jabari Parker, who inked a two-year contract worth $40 million in the summer of 2018, will be removed from Chicago's rotation moving forward.

"It is a surprise because I did everything I could in the time I was given", Parker said, via Johnson, after Thursday's 97-91 loss to the Magic in Mexico City.

It's unclear if Parker will only receive a few minutes when the Bulls play or if he will just sit until the organization can facilitate a trade for him. From a talent perspective, there is no question that Parker brings a lot to the table but, in the same breath, his lack of defensive aptitude can be brutal from a team-building perspective.

That's unlikely, but we've seen stranger things. Most players getting paid in such a range are key players for their teams.

Aurora Cannabis Inc. rose as much as 11 percent, Canopy Growth Corp. climbed 7.3 percent and Tilray Inc. gained 5.5 percent. Several U.S. states have legalized cannabis for medical or recreational use, but pot remains illegal under federal law.

Chicago's on-court issues this season go well beyond Jabari Parker but, after only one-third of the season and 28 games of a two-year contract, it appears his time as a meaningful contributor to the Bulls could be over. Following the game, head coach Jim Boylen address Parker's situation and did admit that he's spoken to the forward about the team's decision. Parker ended back up in the starting lineup when Markkanen and fellow power forward Bobby Portis suffered serious injuries, but his role has diminished since they both returned.

Prior to being benched, Parker was playing well for the Bulls averaging 15.2 points per game in 30.1 minutes, second in the team in scoring behind Zach LaVine. Boylen has been disappointed with Parker's defensive effort, according to reports.

The Chicago Bulls brought Jabari Parker back home as a free agent last offseason, with an idea he'd reach his full potential and be a big part of a fresh rebuild. He's shooting 45.5 percent overall and 29.3 percent on 3-pointers.
