Mauricio Pochettino Won't Take Manchester United Job For This Reason - Spurs Legend

Mauricio Pochettino Won't Take Manchester United Job For This Reason - Spurs Legend

Jose Mourinho was sacked as Manchester United on Tuesday morning after a disappointing first half of the season has left the Red Devils 19 points off the pace in sixth position.

Many feel Spurs would deliver trophies if Pochettino was backed better in the transfer market. "I don't think that will be a stumbling block to recruiting Pochettino".

"Clubs outspent United for many, many years 10, 12 years ago and Manchester United were still winning leagues".

"The Argentinian is understood to regard the opportunity of moving to Old Trafford as too good to turn down, although it would cost United £34 million in compensation to prise him from Tottenham, which would take the club's total bill for sacking José Mourinho earlier today past £50 million".

Tottenham will next face Arsenal in the quarter-final of the EFL Cup as they aim to push for their first piece of silverware under the tutelage of Pochettino, who took over in 2014.

Tottenham were at the Emirates at the start of December in the league when they were beaten 4-2.

Despite his advancing years he is still one of Mauricio Pochettino's most trusted players, and his extension is brilliant news for the club.

"Jose Mourinho is a wonderful manager and I've never bought into the idea that he is a spent force and he has run his course", he added.

The final nail in the coffin came when Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool soundly beat United 3-1, with Mourinho's men offering minimal resistance.

"I said last season that the next manager of United should be Mauricio Pochettino", Neville told Sky Sports.

Despite the new players on display, both sides will want to win this one. I accept everything. I accept the rumours are positive and negative.

"You look at his belief in young players at Southampton and Tottenham, his performance levels and style of play, the way he carries himself at all times publicly and in private and he seems to be the ideals candidate". If we consider that he can cover 90 minutes, maybe he can play.

"Like always in football, no-one can guarantee nothing and when you are a manager, look what happened", he said.

While they are enjoying a good season, as they are third in the Premier League and through to the round of 16 in the Champions League, Pochettino is limited in how he can improve the team.
