Elizabeth Warren starts campaign to unseat Trump in 2020

Warren, D-Mass., Monday announced her exploratory committee, taking her first steps toward her long-anticipated 2020 presidential campaign.

The Senator from MA announced on December 31 that she is launching an exploratory committee for a Presidential challenge, putting her name in contention for the Democratic nomination.

Warren made the reveal in a four-and-a-half-minute video, in which she said, "no matter what our differences, most of us want the same thing: To be able to work hard, play by the same set of rules, and take care of the people we love". "Billionaires and big corporations decided they wanted more of the pie", she added, "and they enlisted politicians to cut 'em a fatter slice". "Meanwhile, a September poll indicated that MA voters were more enthusiastic about Patrick making a White House bid than Warren".

Warren won her Senate seat in 2012, defeating incumbent Sen.

"Warren missed her moment in 2016, and there's reason to be skeptical of her prospective candidacy in 2020", the editorial board wrote.

Senator Warren has denounced Mr Trump as an "insecure money grubber" with a platform of "racism, sexism and xenophobia" while Mr Trump has described the former Harvard Law School professor as "goofy" and a "low life" with "a nasty mouth". He tweeted, "Pocahontas (the bad version), sometimes referred to as Elizabeth Warren, is getting slammed".

Trump disparaged Warren's Native American heritage, which she can trace through DNA back six to ten generations, by calling her "Pocahontas".

"She would have done much better not to address Trump's racism", said Aimee Allison, the executive director of She the People, a group that supports non-white female candidates.

Warren burst onto the national scene a decade ago during the financial crisis with calls for greater consumer protections.

A source familiar with Warren's thinking told Yahoo News that the announcement was part of a deliberate strategy to give her a jump on building campaign operations and traveling to key early primary states.

"I don't have binders full of bankers and CEOs to call for ginormous checks to launch this committee-in fact, majority aren't going to like what I'm doing and will probably spend their money somewhere else".

In a video posted to social media, Warren took aim at the Trump administration's economic policies and divisive approach to minorities. President Barack Obama considered appointing her to run the new bureau but then passed on her. Warren ran for the Senate instead.

It's worth noting here that Warren is originally from Oklahoma and was a registered Republican until her 40s.

Over the summer, Trump had dared Warren to take a DNA test during an extended riff at a campaign rally when he mocking the senator, insulted her hygiene and promised to throw a DNA kit at her should the two of them ever debate. Now Cherokee Nation denies her, "DNA test is useless".
