Injury sidelines All-Star Oladipo

Injury sidelines All-Star Oladipo

The Indiana Pacers lost All-Star guard Victor Oladipo to a serious right knee injury in the second quarter of Wednesday night's game against Toronto.

Oladipo crumpled to the floor during Wednesday night's home game against the Raptors after falling in an attempt to disrupt a pass to Toronto's Pascal Siakam. The Pacers reported the new injury was "serious", with an MRI scheduled for Thursday.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Oladipo is feared to have a knee injury that will require surgery and hold him out for the remainder of 2018-19.

The Pacers now hold the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference and are 17 games above.500 for the first time in 4½ years.

The 26-year-old previously missed time earlier this season due to right knee soreness.

It didn't take long for supportive messages to start pouring in from around the league on social media. "We can't let this get us stuck in the mud". "It's unfortunate. He's a special player and a special person".

"What we'll miss most is him getting a bucket down the stretch", point guard Darren Collison said.

President Josep Maria Bartomeu, general manager Pep Segura and CEO, Òscar Grau were in Amsterdam on Wednesday to close the deal. De Jong will earn around 16 million euros per year - 10 million net, with another six million in performance-related bonuses.

"That kid has a lovely spirit about him", said head coach Nate McMillan. At 19.2 points per game, he is the leading scorer for IN, which sat third IN the Eastern Conference - 2.5 games ahead of the Celtics - entering Wednesday night.

Victor Oladipo is done for the season.

Toronto was led by Serge Ibaka with 23 points and 11 rebounds and Kyle Lowry with 20 points.

The Pacers would go on to beat the Raptors 110-106 to move a season-high 17 games over the.500 mark.

This win was also the 600th career win for Pacers Head Coach Nate McMillan.

Thaddeus Young's 15 rebounds were one shy of his career high of 16 and were the most he's ever recorded as a member of the Pacers.

The Pacers next game is at Memphis Saturday night.
