Saudi crown prince to announce biggest investment, says minister

Although Pakistan has been accused by India and global communities, while it denied involvement in the attack.

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are both involved in a months-long push led by Washington aimed at ending the conflict in Afghanistan. A statement accompanying the figures read, "The current inflow of investments from KSA, UAE, Qatar, Malaysia and other countries would result in exponential growth of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the country".

Saudi Arabia on Friday said it stood with India's fight against terrorism and extremism and denounced as "cowardly" the attack carried out by Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror group that killed 40 CRPF soldiers.

The visit laid the foundation for a new chapter in Pakistan-Saudi relationship, marked by high level institutional framework to guide future direction of political, diplomatic, economic, investment, trade, people-to-people, defence, security and cultural aspects.

The prince, who will be accompanied by a delegation of businessmen, is expected to sign investment agreements worth billions of dollars with cash-strapped Islamabad. "We want Saudi Arabia to be as safe and secure as we want Pakistan to be".

Mr Khashoggi worked for The Washington Post, which is owned by Mr Bezos, and Crown Prince Mohammed is said to be furious at the continued coverage of the issue in Mr Bezos' title.

Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's visit to India presents a "historic opportunity" to expand collaboration in all sectors, the Gulf country's envoy here said on Sunday.

Speaking to the media, he said the revenue to be generated from Saudi investment in Pakistan would be used in larger interest of the country. Pakistani officials say the facility will be in place in next "3-5 years" in Gwadar and will meet the country's needs of refined oil products now being imported.

Pakistani leaders have rejected Indian allegations as unfounded and pledged cooperation to investigate them provided New Delhi shared "evidence" with Islamabad.

Prime Minister Khan has already visited Saudi Arabia twice since coming to power last summer.

Sunni-dominated Pakistan has deep ties to Saudi Arabia in all fields, but it shares a porous border with Shi'ite Iran, stretching over 900 kilometers.
