For Israeli security forces, the ongoing battle against two types of terror

For Israeli security forces, the ongoing battle against two types of terror

I am deeply saddened to hear that Rabbi Achiad Ettinger, a father of 12 from the settlement of Eli, died of his injuries on Monday, a day after being shot by a Palestinian attacker.

According to statements from the Israeli military, the Palestinian assailant, alleged to be 19-year old Omar Amin Abu Laila, approached a commercial center in the illegal Ariel settlement around 10 a.m. and stabbed an Israeli man, grabbed his weapon, and began firing at nearby vehicles. A third victim, a 19-year-old Israeli soldier, was seriously injured.

"I am filing this lawsuit in my father's memory, and for my own children, whom I've taught to never forget that this land is rightfully theirs", he continued.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the army was "in pursuit of the terrorists", indicating that there may have been more than one gunman.

On Friday, both Mr Netanyahu and Mr Gantz promoted themselves as the best qualified to defend the country after Palestinians in Gaza fired two rockets at Tel Aviv for the first time since 2014.

"Rabbi Ettinger's life's work will continue and be among us even after his passing, and the strength he gave his pupils and the community he led will continue to strengthen us through the enormous grief and sorrow", said President Reuven Rivlin.

Palestinian landowners and West Bank residents filed to intervene in a lawsuit against Airbnb over the booking platform's decision to remove listings for Israeli settlements in the West Bank in the occupied Palestinian territory.

Trout, Angels close to record $432M, 12-year deal
Since 2012, when Trout won the AL Rookie of the Year and was the MVP runner-up, he has averaged 34 home runs and 26 stolen bases. Of course, fellow pro athletes chimed in, as did the general sports Twitter population, following the reports.

Israel's army said its troops were searching for him and his home had been surveyed "to examine the possibility of its demolition". Israeli forces have killed more than 260 Palestinians in that same period.

On Sunday, Culture Minister Miri Regev, one of Netanyahu's most outspoken supporters in his right-wing Likud, seized on the incident to attack his strongest challenger in the April 9 election, former armed forces chief Benny Gantz.

Attacks against Israeli security forces and civilians peaked in late 2015 and 2016 and have since become more sporadic.

In the same period Israeli forces killed 295 Palestinians, the United Nations said, a lot of them in Gaza where the army has shot thousands of protesters along the frontier who were demanding, in part, an end to a severe blockade on people and goods.

Israel captured the West Bank in the 1967 Middle East war. Hamas, the Islamist group that rules the Gaza Strip and has an increasingly powerful presence in the West Bank, said the shooting was in response to "the crimes of the Israeli occupation".

Immediately after Sunday's shooting, two militant Palestinian factions - Hamas and Islamic Jihad - released statements praising the attack as "heroic".
