Boeing Max Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Florida Over ‘Performance Issue’

Boeing Max Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Florida Over ‘Performance Issue’

On Tuesday evening (26th March) just before 3pm (local time), a Boeing 737 Max 8 plane in Florida, United States had to make an emergency landing after two pilots reported "a performance issue with one of the engines shortly after takeoff", according to CNN.

It would cost $1.8 billion and take 10,000 new employees for the USA aviation regulator to handle all aircraft certification internally, the agency's chief told a Senate panel on Wednesday, answering questions after two Boeing 737 MAX crashes on how new planes are approved for flight.

The airline and the FAA said the plane had a problem with one of its engines, not the flight-control software.

The Max 8 jet was to be moved to Southwest's Orlando maintenance facility to be checked, a company statement said.

Pilots have said their training on the 737 Max consisted of a short, self-administered online course that made no mention of the new MCAS system and how to disable it in a situation that the pilots on the Lion Air, and likely the Ethiopian Airlines flights, faced.

The witnesses reveal little about the ongoing investigations of the October Lion Air crash and the Ethiopian Airlines crash earlier this month, which are being conducted by other countries' safety boards with assistance from the NTSB and Boeing.

The 737 MAX remains grounded worldwide after two of them crashed, killing more than 300 people. Two of the jets have crashed in the past six months in Indonesia and Ethiopia with deadly consequences, and investigators are examining the role of flight control software that Boeing created to prevent aerodynamic stalls.

LeBron's Lakers officially out
The Los Angeles Lakers are out of the playoff picture - nothing new in that sentence. A number of high profile starts have been linked with joining the Lakers.

A U.S. Senate panel also is scheduled to hold a hearing Wednesday on the two disasters and federal oversight of air safety. The companies are reviewing Boeing's software fix for the 737 MAX planes.

The Times has also reported that the Lion Air pilots repeatedly hit a rebalancing switch in a bid to save the plane, apparently unaware that they needed to take three further steps. Following the second fatal 737 Max crash in Ethiopia, regulators around the world grounded all Max jets.

She said she has ordered the Transportation Department's inspector general, Calvin Scovel, to investigate the MAX certification, and Scovel in turn noted various concerns with FAA inspectors and procedures.

Boeing plans to make their final submission of compliance documents for the update to the Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System, or MCAS, software to the FAA by the end of the week, a Boeing official said Tuesday.

An Ethiopian Airlines 737 Max followed a similar flight path before it slammed into the ground on March 10. Oregon Democrat Peter DeFazio said the Max shouldn't be allowed to carry passengers until independent experts approve Boeing's work and ensure that pilots will be trained to fly the plane safely. Cruz said his goal is to find out what caused the crashes and determine how future crashes can be prevented.

Muscat: Boeing is humbled and learning from an Ethiopian Airlines crash that killed 157 people more than two weeks ago, the company's CEO Dennis Muilenburg recently said in a published statement.

The Ethiopian transport ministry spokesman explained that Ethiopia has led the investigation into the crash with assistance from USA and French investigators as part of the rules of the International Civil Aviation Organization.
