Boeing yet to agree to cancelation of 737 MAX 8 order: Garuda

Boeing is preparing to submit final paperwork to United States regulators for a software upgrade to the anti-stall countermeasure on the 737 MAX which investigators said in a preliminary report repeatedly pushed the nose down on the Lion Air flight.

Investigators into the Boeing 737 crash which killed 157 people have reached an early conclusion that an anti-stall system was activated before the passenger plane hit the group.

The 737 MAX planes were grounded worldwide following the Ethiopian Airlines disaster, which came five months after a Lion Air crash in Indonesia that killed 189 people.

These are the first details to emerge since Ethiopian investigators shared the fatal flight's black box data with global aviation experts earlier this week.

Reuters reported on Friday that USA and European regulators knew at least two years before the Indonesian crash that the usual method for controlling the 737 MAX's nose angle might not work in conditions similar to those in the two recent disasters, citing a document.

Flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has said that Boeing has not yet agreed to the airline's intention to cancel the order of 49 Boeing 737 MAX 8 airplanes. But those situations were not listed in the flight manual used by American Airlines, Reuters said.

The New Oculus Rift S Stops Short Of Being Truly Exciting
The Rift S also has a higher resolution display crammed inside it, too: 1280×1440 per eye for a total of 2560×1440. In addition, there has been a shift from the OLED panels used in the original Rift to LCD on the Rift S.

According to preliminary findings by Indonesian investigators, in the Lion Air disaster in October, pilots encountered nearly the exact set of "unusual" circumstances described in the EASA document. The changes have been in development for weeks, but Boeing fully detailed them Wednesday.

A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against Boeing for the company's role in the fatal crash of Ethiopia Airlines Flight 302 earlier this month.

The Seattle-based manufacturer has since been scrutinized for its training practices leading up to the launch of the 737 MAX 8 jets, including public congressional hearings and an Inspector General investigation into the Department of Transportation's certification process for the plane.

Ethiopian Federal policemen stand at the scene of the Ethiopian Airlines Flight ET 302 plane crash, near the town of Bishoftu, southeast of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on March 11, 2019.

In other words, Boeing will have some substantial liability in both crashes, and perhaps even in the costs associated with grounding the 737 Max fleet around the world. Boeing is still awaiting FAA approval on the software update.

After the software update is approved, it would take about a day to deploy and an hour to upgrade each aircraft.
