Tom Brady Announces Retirement in April Fool's Tweet

Tom Brady Announces Retirement in April Fool's Tweet

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (12) reacts after Super Bowl LIII against the Los Angeles Rams at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The four-time Super Bowl MVP finished the 2018 season with 4,355 yards, 29 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Now, Brady is determined to win No. 7.

Brady picked up more than 30,000 followers followers in 30 minutes after that tweet, many of them happily acknowledging the timing of his Twitter arrival, with a hat tip to arguably the NFL's greatest QB of all time.

The Patriots quarterback used April Fools' Day to try his hand at comedy, "announcing" he has made a decision to retire and tweet in his newfound spare time.

Miami Open: Roger Federer beats Radu Albot, advances to third round
Albot could not convert a break point in the deciding set tied at 3-3, and the Swiss took command from there to wrap up the match. At 6-5, Federer went 15-40 up on the Serbian's service game and another backhand victor gave the 37-year-old the lead.

Considering it's April 1st, it's obvious that the tweet was an obvious April Fools joke although Patriots fans probably aren't laughing that hard over it. It wasn't a bad joke so much as a dad joke.

That joke led to some quality reactions from Julian Edelman and Golden Tate, and resulted Brady asking a rhetorical question in his follow-up tweet. His wideout, Julian Edelman, posted a GIF captioned, "Don't You Dare".

Brady has said that he hopes to play until he's 45 years old.
